Dr. Marty Singer’s experience spans business and technology leadership, public service, and academic research. From 2001-2017 he served as PCTEL's Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. Under his leadership, PCTEL transitioned from wired modems to wireless technology products and services.  To accomplish this, the company made 14 acquisitions, executed a successful patent licensing campaign and divested non-core assets.  Today, PCTEL has achieved global leadership in industrial antennas and wireless test and measurement equipment, employs 500 people and generates $100 million in revenue.

Prior to PCTEL, Dr. Singer served as President and Chief Executive Officer of SAFCO Technologies, a wireless test and measurement company, acquired by Agilent Technologies for $122 million. Before SAFCO he served as Vice President within the Cellular Infrastructure Group of Motorola. He held senior management and technical positions at Tellabs, AT&T and Bell Labs.  He launched StarLAN and the T1 multiplexor portfolio at AT&T and the Titan cross-connect product at Tellabs. Dr. Singer has eleven (11) patents in telecommunications and security and managed the licensing of GSM intellectual property for Motorola.

He has also served on public company boards (PCTEL, Westell, Multiband, and ISCO). He has chaired compensation committees and served both on nominating and corporate governance committees.

Marty Singer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan and a Master of Arts degree and Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from Vanderbilt University.  He completed a two-year post-doctoral program in Developmental Psychology at the University of Denver and was a Visiting Associate Professor of Psychology and Education at the University of Delaware.  He authored several academic publications and edited a book on reading and associated disabilities.  His community involvement includes his service on the Standing Advisory Group for the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, the Advisory Board for the MMM program at Kellogg, the Illinois Broadband Deployment Council and the Illinois Commission on Economic Recovery.  He now serves on the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Engineering’s Advisory Board and is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago.

Dr. Singer has written articles on the telecommunications industry, immigration, and social policy.  He has a strong interest in theatre, having invested in nine Broadway and off-Broadway productions over the past 20 years, including Hamilton, Rent, Avenue Q, West Side Story, In the Heights, The Last Ship, and The Bengal Tiger in the Baghdad Zoo.
